The Heartwarming Musical Comedy , Sony Pictures Lyle, Lyle the Crocodile in theaters Friday, October 7

We were invited to the exclusive prescreening of Sony Pictures  Lyle, Lyle the Crocodile.  It’s Croctober 2022, and it’s in theaters on October 7! This is such a feel good all over type of family film.

This adorable, heartwarming film has been accompanied by so many fun things from Sony Pictures.  Among the cast are Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, Winslow Fegley, and Shawn Mendes as Lyle. Among the cast are Javier Bardem, Constance Wu, Winslow Fegley, and Shawn Mendes as Lyle.  

The Scoop

Lyle, Lyle Crocodile Trailer

Based on the best-selling book series by Bernard Waber, Lyle, Lyle Crocodile.  From the beginning of the movie, you will be captivated by the live-action musical comedy.  We can all relate to going to a new school and watching our children grow up so quickly.  

Well, this film brilliantly captures the emotions of Lyle and the Primm family.  In the movie, life issues that we cannot control are incorporated, but they are not made the focus. This cast had a diverse range of ethnicities and the son, Josh, Winslow Fegley, became friends with Kara Delany played by actress, Lyric Hurd, respectively.  

Roundtable Virtual Interview

Bailey Rae Fenderson, 11 year old, Netflix Klaus voice actress, asked, producers and directors, Will Speck and Josh Gordon if the film was filmed in New York or created on Sony studio lot.

They responded that they absolutely filmed in New York City. They said it was fun and this was home for them.  “We want to be sure you knew the setting was in New York City.”  She was honored to learn more about the behind-the-scenes process for the film. It was totally inspiring for her to hear the perspective of the producers, on their purpose and desire to bring joy into the world, with this film, from a 1968 children’s book series, Lyle the Crocodile.

During the interview, the producers stressed the importance of incorporating real life into the film, but not making it the focus. The producers shared that Sean Mendes was always top of mind for the film. They knew they wanted him to be Lyle. It was such a great interview!

The Storyline

Mrs. Primm’s passion for cooking was no longer a focal point in her creativity, for instance. Mr. Primm seemed unhappy during his daily life. This film quietly emphasizes the importance of enjoying the little things in life.    

Lyle the Crocodile encourages this family to dream, dance, and sing again. Having adults examine themselves and ask, are we using our imagination and having fun too, was such a great aspect of the movie.  The Primm family finds joy again, after life’s inevitable challenges thanks to Lyle the Croc and Josh.

In the same way that Lyle the Crocodile and Josh teach us many life lessons, our children do the same for us.   Josh taught his parents so many lessons throughout the film. Sean Mendes voice and emotions simply shine through the adorable cold-blooded reptile.

Throughout the film, Lyle opened the door to joy for the parents and a friend for the son.  According to Washington Post, the heartwarming film of 2022, surely will warm the iciest hearts. The film reminds me of my childhood favorite E.T. film. Trust me, you will find yourself moving to the beat of every single song! Yall, this is a soundtrack you gotta have. Our favorite scene, of course, was the kitchen scene! The producers mentioned during the interview that Constance received a standing ovation after shooting the film because of her performance in the scene.  You can watch the interview here.  

If you are looking for a film that brings back your childhood imagination along with your children, this is the film for you! Lyle, Lyle the Crocodile is in theaters today!  This is just a good old fashion joyful heartwarming film in New York City that makes you sing along and dance too.
